SSOMS 2011 Pre Tour to San Francisco and
Yosemite National Park
Please read now as space is limited and deadlines are approaching
Our pre-trip should be a very memorable one for all SSOMS members that are quick enough to sign up to join us. We were able to secure 15 rooms at the amazing Ahwahnee Hotel, the premier lodge in Yosemite. Since people will be arriving at different times, we have reserved rooms at the beautiful historic Fairmont Hotel for Saturday night, May 7th, 2011. World-renowned, The Fairmont San Francisco hotel presents an awe-inspiring picture of historic San Francisco.

The grandeur of the hotel coupled with its reputation for impeccable service promises a truly memorable experience. Centrally located, The Fairmont San Francisco luxury hotel is a short cable car trip from bustling Downtown, Financial District, Union Square and Fisherman's Wharf. The Fairmont San Francisco hotel is located at the only spot in San Francisco where each of the City's cable car lines meet. We do not have any activities planned for Saturday but I would be happy to provide you with suggestions for restaurants and activities. If you would like to arrive earlier in San Francisco, the room rate per night would be $285 and I can arrange that for you. On Sunday morning after a full American breakfast, our bus will pick us up to take us to Yosemite.
The Ahwahnee Hotel is located in majestic Yosemite National Park. This hotel, built in 1927 is a National Historic Landmark and is one of the most distinctive resorts in North America. It is in the center of the Yosemite Valley, an ideal location to view the Yosemite Falls, Half Dome and Glacier Point. The site was chosen for its views of many of the iconic sights in Yosemite. The Ahwahnee shines as Yosemite National Park’s distinctive AAA® Four-Diamond hotel. Known for its magnificent façade, and architecture, The Ahwahnee was specifically designed to highlight its natural surroundings, featuring Yosemite Falls, Half Dome and Glacier Point. The destination of queens and presidents alike, The Ahwahnee offers a perfect balance of history, hospitality and elegance.
While in Yosemite, we will do a Valley Floor Tour which will give us a beautiful overview from the valley floor to the higher ridges. Free time will be available to enjoy the National Park on your own. Besides taking in all the visual splendor of the area, there is also hiking, horseback riding, rock climbing, golf, visiting Mariposa Grove of the Giant Sequoias and more. Shuttle buses will be available to take us to the Yosemite Village and Curry Village to visit cultural museums, shopping, restaurants, etc. or you can relax and just enjoy the beautiful scenery. Inside and outside the Ahwahnee.
The Ahwahnee hotel is booked a year in advance and rooms are EXTREMLY in high demand. Currently, we have guarantee 15 rooms for our group. 12 king rooms and 3 double rooms. Rooms will be secured on a first come first serve basis.
Wednesday morning, our bus will pick us up and take us the four+ hour mountainous drive on to Napa and The Silverado Resort for the annual SSOMS meeting
